Mycorrhiza began in early 2020. This is a unique project for us, different from what we've worked on before or since both in process and in sound.

It was conceived from the onset as a VHS release after receiving a VHS duplicator from a friend.
It was also conceived as a collaborative project from the beginning. Starting with our friend Willie Rusert, who we sampled playing acoustic instruments, scrambled and rearranged, then brought back to perform with him while he recorded the whole process.
Ayani Hayashi (KnoSei) mixed and played bass and Angel Martinez (BOTS) mastered it.
We also experimented with Wotja generative music software for this project, which became another collaborator in a way.

The video and packaging was all done by Mal Sed using a photograph from Tanya Behar for the Box art. Animations of Matt's illustrations are prevalent throughout the film. All the video was shot, mixed, and edited by us, mostly using iphone/ipad. The packaging was all done by hand. There is a clear transparency with an illustration by Matt that fits around the box and can slide on/off.

This is a very limited release, we're only selling 10 copies.
